FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Please reach out to us at info@spraywizeuk.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

uPVC stands for un-plasticised polyvinyl chloride, and it is a strong and low-maintenance, but lightweight plastic building material.

uPVC is a low-maintenance material, unlike natural materials which require annual sanding, varnishing and repainting. Windows & doors made from uPVC can last for decades without any sign of weathering. Usually the only upkeep is to keep them clean with soapy water to prevent staining and remove grime and dirt.

This makes uPVC perfect for spraying, and our specialist coating will actually protect and help preserve the uPVC frames underneath.

There are various products available on the market for uPVC painting, from standard water-based paints which can be applied with a brush to Single part (1K) and 2-part paints (2K) options which are far better if sprayed by professionals.

The 2K coating used by us at Spraywize UK has an expected lifespan of 10 to 15 years. To maximise this we recommend regular cleaning and ensuring any abrasive debris is removed as quickly as possible and not left on the surface for a long time.

Areas of harsher environmental impact such as southern-facing or coastal properties are subject to increased exposure to heat and salt air which can impact the lifespan of the product. It would still be expected to last at least 8 to 12 years.

At Spraywize UK we use 2K coatings (2-part paints) which have an expected lifespan of 10 to 15 years.

Yes, the process and products used by SpraywizeUK for uPVC window spraying are exactly the same as for aluminium window frames.

Yes, grey uPVC windows, from the factory, are more expensive than standard white windows. We are able to spray your existing white windows in any colour including anthracite grey at a fraction of the cost of replacing.

Whilst you are able to use waterborne products with a brush or roller to paint your plastic window frames, we advise that the level of finish will be far below your expectations. We recommend hiring a professional UPVC spraying company to do this for you, using specialist products and equipment to ensure a factory finish you can be proud of.

We use the 2K products because they are extremely durable. They are industrial products with high build qualities, enabling them to be applied in a thick coating giving far more durability than multiple thin coats of paint.

Yes, you can change white aluminium or uPVC windows & doors and the colour choices are almost endless!

At Spraywize UK we use only 2K products for all applications. The spraying process provides a factory finish on your uPVC without leaving a poor finish with brush marks. We would always recommend using a professional for painting your uPVC.

We have various options available depending on the product specified. At a minimum, we will have sheen levels that are matte (10%), satin (30%) and gloss (70%) with even more options available from a dead flat matte (5%) right up to a high gloss (90%) in many products.

We offer a 12-month workmanship guarantee for most services. We are unable to offer a product guarantee as the product manufacturer we use does not offer this. However we can assure you that the expected lifespan of the 2K products used for external works is 10-15 years. Please be aware that this can be reduced to 8-12 years if you live in a coastal area, as the salt in the air corrodes the coatings faster than inland.

It is a common misconception that 10-year guarantees are standard with uPVC spraying – whilst we can suggest you request a copy of a guarantee from a supplier – it is highly unlikely you will find a company who can prove one.

We mostly remove windows and doors so they are not sprayed in situ. If thbis is not possible and a window must be sprayed in situ at height, we choose to work mainly from ladders, where safe to do so. However, if access is impossible or dangerous by ladder, we would require either scaffolding or MEWP hire such as a cherry picker or scissor lift. Anything that can't be removed, that is higher than first-floor windows will require access to equipment.

Yes, all masking and waste items are cleared up, bagged and disposed of correctly.

Yes, we are able to spray many things and are not limited to wood, plastic or metal. We have access to products for most substrates including glass and ceramic tiles.

We are based in Barnet, North London and mostly cover Hertfordshire, London and Essex, as well as Buckinghamshire and Surrey. We have contacts all over the UK so would be able to assist on any project nationwide, using our network of subcontractors.

Yes. We are able to offer light commercial and industrial spraying services, including aluminium shopfronts, shutters and facades to industrial unit cladding, and roof spraying. As well as the external spraying we also offer internal spraying for shop fit-outs, such as ceiling tile spraying and supermarket refurbishment.

Depending on the exact product used and the material that the product is going onto, most of our metal and uPVC paints have an expected lifespan of 10-15 years.

All we usually ask is that any obstructions are removed from the immediate area such as plant pots or garden statues.  Other than that, all we require is access to power (electric socket).

We do not require any cleaning or preparation prior to arrival unless stated, as this is all done by our on-site spray technicians. For any internal works, we will require the rooms to be cleared as much as possible. The exact requirements for your project will be discussed before any work is undertaken.

Most often not, but if we are spraying internally then we may request it. Depending on the products required or chosen for your project, pets and children may be best off not being present during the spraying process. If it’s possible for the home to be clear of pets and children during an on-site spray day, this would be the best option. In cases where this may not be possible, we would just request you retreat to the furthest room away from the spray area. Once the spraying is complete, we recommend the area is avoided for the rest of that day but it will be safe to use from the following morning onwards.

As standard, we do not work weekends!

However, we do understand that some businesses aren't often able to shut down during the week for refurb purposes. We try to accommodate this where possible, but please note there will be small additional charges.

Of course, spraying any solvent-based product will have some VOCs present. The concentration levels of these chemicals is 10 times less outdoors than indoors though and we only spray windows in-situ if there is no option for them to be removed.

Also, the amount of plastic going into the landfill is massively reduced by reviving instead of replacing your uPVC windows which more than makes up for this.

So, having your old items sprayed and given a new lease of life is not only better for your pocket but also for the environment!

Repairing a crack in uPVC is possible! Small cracks in uPVC windows and doors can be repaired easily with little to no trace.

Larger cracks can cause structural weakness and represent a significant security risk. Repairing large cracks is not something we offer, but our team can recommend a local surface repair technician who could repair any damage prior to our arrival.

Some uPVC windows are finished with a foil wrap to create a wood-grain effect. Where the external sections of uPVC window frames are continuously exposed to the elements, this foil can deteriorate over time. Prolonged exposure may cause the foil to shrink, leading to bubbling and lifting. If left untreated, the foil can blister and split, resulting in a finish that no longer resembles its original appearance.

Unfortunately, where a large proportion of the windows have deteriorated to this extent, we would not recommend removing the remaining foil prior to spraying. The time and cost involved in dissolving the old adhesive and preparing a suitable surface would outweigh the financial benefit of spraying. However, if the damage is limited to a few small, localised areas, it may be possible for us to carry out repairs before spraying. For this reason, we always request photographs of any damage during the quotation process.

In these situations, we would recommend contacting a re-foiling or vinyl-wrapping specialist to repair localised areas. If a high percentage of the windows are affected, full replacement may be the most practical and cost-effective solution.

No, we stop external work on residential properties during winter months when it is wetter and colder. Rain and frost are a problem when spraying externally so we do require certain conditions are met to ensure the coatings will not fail. We will assess conditions and suggest solutions when we take on each project.

Whilst we can't always complete external work on residential properties all year round, we do continue to spray commercial and industrial works through the winter.

From time to time, exterior uPVC spraying may need to be postponed due to unsuitable weather conditions. We always try to give as much notice as possible, however final confirmation may not be possible until the day of your booking. This is something outside of our control, but please be assured that we will reschedule your work at the earliest available opportunity. With multiple teams in place and flexibility built into our monthly schedules, we can usually rebook promptly. Your job will never be cancelled by us.

If you decide to cancel your booking and have paid a deposit, this will be fully refunded as long as we receive at least 14 days’ written notice before your scheduled date. Cancellations made with less than 14 days’ notice will unfortunately result in the loss of the deposit.

If you need to postpone your booking—for example due to building delays or other unexpected circumstances—we’re happy to be flexible and will do our best to accommodate your needs. We simply ask for a minimum of 7 days’ notice where possible, which helps us manage our schedule and offer the slot to another customer.

The cost of uPVC spraying varies depending on the exact details of the project and location. A front door starts from £295.00, garage doors from £395.00 and windows range from £150.00 – £500.00 each depending on size. Send us pictures with your enquiry for an approximate quote for your project.
